God, Sarah Palin & Religious Conservatives: Politics As Usual?

59

By Ben Bush

It seems the unexpected addition of conservative queen, Sarah Palin,
to the presidential mix was a timely recipe for resurgence, not only
to the campaign of John McCain, but to the Presidential race as a
whole. What had seemed to devolve into an uninspiring and muddled
race for the Executive Branch has suddenly taken a breath of
freshness, vitality and energetic anticipation for the first week
of November. Maybe this is cause for a re-evaluation.

Let's see, then, what is included in this excitement of all things
political and presidential. On the side of the braying donkey
Democrats is a recovering, but progressive, Muslim Attorney draped
in the Christian holy cloth of the Red, White and Blue. His sidekick
is a classic liberal Attorney known for his "open mouth, insert both
feet" political gaffes. High atop the plodding Republican Elephant
sits the poster child for all things liberally GOP. Out front
(for good reason) sits the conservatively beautiful and articulate
creature of all things feminine possessing the political guts all
GOP men wish for.

One makes everyone hopeful or hotheaded. One makes everyone glad for
not offending someone. One makes everyone inspiringly bored. The last
makes everyone wish they were her.

This campaign has all the requisites for a prime time sitcom. But, alas,
the seriousness of this campaign precludes such frivolous reality. The
charade must be carried out, so on with the show with all the pomp and
circumstance possible. The American Crown awaits.

Lest you think I jest in my articulation of the nuances of this current
presidential race, let me remind you of one very important fact. The
only reason this campaign has regained any of its luster (not that it
had any in the first place), is because of Sarah Palin. And only because
she is considered a true conservative. And because she is easy on the
eyes. And because she is passionately articulate. And because she can
handle herself in a discussion or debate, even with men. (As I said, most
GOP men can't do this) She is concise and on target, never chasing
conversational rabbits. Yet, in spite of these qualities and more, they
mean absolutely nothing as far as Religious Conservatives gaining power
and/or influence in the United States.

You don't believe me? Can you tell me or anyone else of one conservative
or group of conservatives who has ever won elective office and truly
implemented any Policy considered to be highly important to Religious
Conservatives from a Biblical perspective? The fact is, there aren't
any. That includes Ronald Reagan! If you think Ronald Reagan implemented
anything other than what the political elites wanted, you're sadly
mistaken. Ended The Cold War by Dismantling the Soviet Union? No, he just
took the next step in preparing for the One World Government, thus making
it possible to expand American Military Power around the globe.
Implemented Conservative Trickled Down Economics? No, he just provided
cover and opportunity to expand the federal budget while piling more debt
on the backs of the American Populace, a condition the Bible refers to as
slavery. This is a condition originally implemented by The Founding
Fathers of the United States and sustained by almost every administration
since. And since Reagan left office? Curbed the Expansion of the Abortion
Industry by Passing the Partial Birth abortion Bill? Not so you would
notice. The fact is that this bill expanded the practice of murder by
defining and delineating the parameters of partial birth abortion.

What does this mean? It means two things. First, the selection of Sarah
Palin, as refreshing as she may be, is politics as usual for Religious
Conservatives. This means that, second, religious conservatives will
continue to be frustrated and alone within the realm of World politics.
Their policies and convictions will continue to be overlooked because a
vastly different agenda is being implemented by American politicians.
And sadly, religious conservatives will also remain nothing more than
political capital. That's the way God designed it. The sooner this fact
is realized, the sooner they can start to take care of God's business

on this earth.
